You’ve spent weeks trying to decide which Halloween costume to wear this year, but you still haven’t found the right look. Now, it’s the night before and you realize that your costume isn’t going to magically appear out of thin air, even though you need it like yesterday! Fortunately, there are plenty of easy costume ideas you can make on your own using items around the house in just five minutes or less – no sewing required!
DIY Ninja Turtle Costume
Grab black, green and orange fabric and sew it together to make ninja turtle shells. Cut holes into each one so you can put your arms through them (your hands go into Ninja Turtle gloves). Grab some yellow fabric to tie around your waist to make your belt, and use felt for Ninja Turtle eyes. Throw on an orange wig and black boots. Don’t forget your weapon—we suggest throwing stars, nunchucks or staffs! Use safety pins to pin them to your clothes.
DIY Werewolf Costume
A werewolf costume is relatively easy to make using simple materials. All you’ll need is a hoodie or jacket, some fake blood, and black clothes—like leggings and tights. To create your wolf ears and tail, you can use things you might have lying around your house, like cardboard or poster board. Once you’ve created these key pieces of your werewolf costume (you can check out how on YouTube), apply fake blood to yourself.
DIY Dracula Costume
This is a really cute idea for toddlers or children who want to be Dracula for Halloween. What you’ll need: black jeans, long sleeve red shirt, and some hair gel to make a widow’s peak. Put your child’s hair up into curlers and then use an elastic band to keep them back when they come out of their bath. Voilà – red eyes! If you have makeup with you, draw circles around their eyes with red lipstick.
DIY Monster Costume
Whether you’re dressing up for Halloween or attending a masquerade ball, you don’t have to leave your creativity at home. If you have plenty of time before your party, why not try making your own DIY costume?
